Istanbul-based Maltepe Dental Clinic has released documentation of a complex veneer revision case involving California model and influencer Sherra Michelle Rothschild, demonstrating how direct dentist-technician collaboration and same-day fabrication influence cosmetic dentistry outcomes.
The case study tracked Sherra Michelle's journey from initial consultations in Beverly Hills and Mexico to her final treatment in Istanbul, and highlights the role of integrated laboratory services in achieving precise aesthetic results. The patient, who sought revision of existing veneers that had compromised her smile width and failed to achieve her desired shade, was treated with custom-designed restorations fabricated in the clinic's in-house dental laboratory. Rothschild consented to the publication of her case and clinical details.
"The ability to have our laboratory technician chairside during the design and adjustment phases fundamentally changes the treatment dynamic," stated Dr. Alper Gürhan, co-founder and lead dentist at the clinic. "When the technician can observe the patient's facial features, lip dynamics, and aesthetic preferences directly, rather than working from impressions and photographs alone, the precision of the final restoration increases significantly."

The documented case involved replacing Rothschild's existing veneers with IPS e.max laminate veneers in shade 0M1, the clinic's MDC Crystal White. The work addressed both the structural goal of restoring smile width and the aesthetic goal of the brightness associated with a Hollywood smile. On-site laboratory capabilities enabled same-visit adjustments that would typically require multiple appointments with external labs — an approach the clinic details in its own case footage of EMAX veneers treatment.
According to a systematic review and meta-analysis published in the Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, lithium disilicate (e.max) veneers show a pooled survival rate of approximately 96.8 percent at long-term follow-up. A separate multi-center study conducted through the National Dental Practice-Based Research Network found that esthetic failures, along with marginal or proximal misfit, were among the leading reasons for restoration remakes — underscoring the value of the close dentist-laboratory coordination central to this case.
"The integration of laboratory and clinical services represents more than convenience," explained Dr. Yusuf İlhan, co-founder at the clinic. "It creates a feedback loop where immediate adjustments can be made based on try-in results, patient input, and clinical observations. This collaborative approach is particularly critical in revision cases where patients have specific expectations based on previous treatments."
Sherra's case exemplifies the complexity often involved in cosmetic dentistry revisions. Having previously undergone orthodontic treatment and received veneers elsewhere, she arrived with clear expectations shaped by consultations across multiple countries. The treatment plan addressed both functional concerns and aesthetic preferences through coordinated clinical and laboratory processes.
The clinic notes that individual results vary based on factors including existing dental conditions, bone structure, and personal aesthetic goals. Each treatment plan is developed based on comprehensive evaluation and patient-specific requirements.
